Where does hair grow from? The head or the end of old hair? Where do nails grow from? The cuticles or ends??? ?

What I'm trying to ask is when your hair grows, where does the new hair come from? Does the new hair come from the head, or the ends? If you are not sure, and you have/had your hair died before, you can find out the answer easily. If you had black hair and you died it brown, and month later, did you see black hair closer to your head or the ends of your hair? If the black hair is closer to your head that means that new hair grows from your head.

I am very curious to find out the answer to this question, so please answer it. If possible support your answer with a reliable website. Thanks.Where does hair grow from? The head or the end of old hair? Where do nails grow from? The cuticles or ends??? ?
Where does the tree grow from?

The root.

Our hair and nails grow from the root. The roots of your hair are under the skin. The roots of your nails are under the cuticle. It is in the root of the hair and nails where the new nail or hair is grown. The hair that you see is really just lots of dead cells joined together, same thing goes with your nails. The white part at the tip of your nail is all dead cells.Where does hair grow from? The head or the end of old hair? Where do nails grow from? The cuticles or ends??? ?
Both hair and nails grow from the base (follicles in the scalp and the cuticles respectively). The part of the hair and nails that you can see is dead material; the living part is inside, under your skin.

Thus your original hair color will start to appear at the base of your dyed hair.
first of all, trees grow from the ends. not the root.

you hair on the other hand, grows from the follicle in your scalp.
your hair grows form your head and your nails grow from your cuticle.
I don't want to be mean, but that has to be hands down one of the stupidest questions I have ever heard.
are you serious?
